Congratulations on the successful holding of the CAST International Young Scientist Salon on Bioinspired Materials. The International Young Scientists Salon on Bioinspired Materials is a key project supported by the China Association for Science and Technology. It is sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology, co-organized by the Chinese Society of Micro-Nano Technology, joint-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Physical Chemistry of Solid Surface (Xiamen University) and the Youth Committee of the International Bionic Engineering Society, and served as the executive chairman by Prof. Xu Hou of Xiamen University. With the theme of "bioinspired new concept materials", the salon conducts research on frontier hot issues of bioinspired structural materials, bioinspired interface materials, bioinspired functional materials, etc., building an academic exchange platform for young scientific and technological talents in the field to meet and grow.

Our recent research work has been selected as the Front Cover of the Inaugural Issue of Interdisciplinary Materials. Liquid gating membrane is a new kind of structural materials, response to an applied force as a pressure-driven system. To address the long-term high consumption caused by traditional “experimental trial method”, a machine learning algorithm is trained to effectively integrate material structure, composition and performance. This cover shows machine learning technology, offers a promising approach to exchange negligible machine resources for valuable researcher time, thus accelerating and optimizing the development of liquid gating technology.See details: Click here.

Our recent research work has been selected as the Inside Front Cover of Advanced Materials. Liquid-gating technology is attracting increasing attention for the delivery of some brand-new properties for real-world applications. In article number 2107327, we report a self-driven smart liquid-gating system, developed by designing a liquid-gating magnetoelastic porous membrane with reversible meniscus-shaped deformations. This system provides a universal and convenient way to realize active regulation of gas/liquid release. The illustrated visible gas/liquid-mixture content monitoring showcases one example of the application of the reported material.See details: Click here.
